The VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) program provides high-quality, no-cost tax preparation services to community members. The program saves people the often high cost of filing taxes and ensures their returns are accurate and includes all tax credits they are eligible for.

Work with community members of different ages, industries, and cultures to help create a more equitable tax system in Colorado.Give back, build your resume, and feel rewarded for having done something meaningful for your community.VITA volunteers are eligible to earn up to 18 continuing education credits for completing training.

There are many ways you can help your community as a VITA/TCE volunteer. Complete a free, self-paced, and accessible training to become an IRS-certified tax preparer. If you aren’t comfortable with tax preparation, you can make a big difference by welcoming community members as a greeter, interpreter, or site coordinator.

Tax Help Colorado, operated by United Way, is the largest  network of VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) sites in Colorado. Each year, it offers free tax preparation services to low- and moderate-income individuals and families in partnership with the IRS.

You can make a difference in your community by volunteering with Tax Help Colorado. Receive free training to become an IRS-certified tax preparer, or support clients as a liaison, interpreter, intake specialist, or site coordinator. Join us in helping Coloradans navigate their taxes and keep more of their hard-earned money.

Become an AARP Tax-Aide Volunteer

AARP is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization that empowers people to choose how they live as they age. Join the team of AARP Tax-Aide volunteers to help people in your community. Volunteers receive free training to become IRS-certified. Prepare tax returns for community members at in-person clinics or virtually.
